Growth

As the year comes to an end, I took some time to reflect on the past twelve months. If I could describe my 2022 in a single world, I would say that it was a year of growth.

This year, I levelled up my language skills, got a fresh pair of eyes from a laser beam, delivered a speech, did a little too many barbeques, met many new friends, and formalized my path into game production.

Sounds pretty good, but I would be lying if I didn't feel afraid taking on some of these challenges. Juggling 15 months of study for a Japanese test alongside full-time work knowing I could very well still fail at it. Entering my dream profession but worrying if my expectations of it were far too idealistic. It's definitely tough taking firm steps forward without knowing what's next.

Reflecting on the way in which many uncertain moments turned out exceedingly well despite my initial apprehension - I am reminded that without risk, there is no reward. Without faith, there is no leap. Without challenge, there is no growth.

Looking back, I'm convinced that the opportunities that 2022 presented gave me the vital chance to progress beyond fear and hold fast to what is important to me.

With 2023 just around the corner, I hope we all excitedly await the new challenges that lie in the year ahead and overcome our fear of the unknown - because the greatest growth only happens when we truly yearn for the sky.
